Meet the Virgin Mary

“My soul magnifies the Lord,

And my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour"

Who Was St. Mary?

The Blessed Virgin Mary, like all of our house saints, was a girl who allowed God’s will to work through her. What most people don’t think about is that, at the time of the annunciation, Mary would only have been a young teenage girl, probably the same age as many of our pupils. Nevertheless, when the time came, this young girl had the courage and faith to say yes to God, and allow her life to be changed forever by the coming of Jesus.

Forward thirty odd years and once again Mary’s life was to be changed again, when the baby boy she’d taught to walk, who she had held when he grazed his knee, and sent off to begin his ministry, was suddenly turned against by her neighbours, tried, crucified and died. Yet this pain was short lived, because just three days later he was raised from the dead and renewed faith in the God’s great glory.

Mary is a woman who we can look to in any moment of our life, who can relate and share in all that we go through. Even now she is by our side, praying with us and interceding on our behalf. A mother and inspiration to us all.
