Due to COVID restrictions the current year 7’s are following an amended program of learning but in normal circumstances year 7 follow a very exciting introduction to many aspects of Computer Science. We start off by learning all about how computers work and the history of the exciting technology we currently use. Many pupils start to use more technology as they start high school and so we learn all about the risks that technology can present and how to stay safe. Programming is an essential part to any computer science course and we start off learning to program in scratch and then move on to a basic introduction to python. With our new skills we learn how to program micro bits and turn them into everything from compasses to games. During year 7 we also make sure that all pupils are comfortable with word, PowerPoint and publisher so that they can use these skills in other subjects.

Computer Science will build your critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills. These skills are transferable across all of your subjects and will be valuable to you even after leaving school.
