Children's Mental Health Support Group
Children’s Mental Health Support Group
As you are aware, there has been a lot of media coverage in recent weeks concerning mental health and particularly that of children. Indeed it a source of concern for us as it is reported that as many as 30% of adolescent children can have a defined mental health difficulty at some point.
However support and treatment for children is sometimes hard to obtain and can result in painful waiting times before children can be seen and diagnosed by a specialist. The follow on from that can be painful and stressful for the whole family.
Therefore, I was delighted to receive news of a joint approach from Mr Richard Kelly, the local Director of the charity MIND and a parent. They are proposing to set up a support group and to achieve such aims are holding an initial meeting on 8th February 2017 at 7.30 pm in Heffernan House on Widemarsh Street, Hereford.
If you think you would be interested in joining such a group, or simply finding out more about what support services are available then you would be very welcome. I understand that there can be a little reluctance to attend this sort of meeting, but if you are interested or are affected in any way it will be well worth your while and I am sure that you will be glad to have gone.
