Students and staff at St Mary’s RC High School are celebrating today after they received another set of strong GCSE results. In the headline accountability measures, 81% of the year group achieved a grade 9-4 (Standard Pass) in English and Maths with 55% gaining a Strong Pass (5+) in the two Core Subjects. A quarter of all grades achieved at St Mary’s were 7-9.
There were also some excellent individual performances amongst the students at the school. Amongst her grades, Sophie Campbell achieved an impressive eight grade ‘9’s, whilst collectively Juvita Abraham, Bruce Binnersley, Sophie Griffiths-Rose, Samuel Hey, Cerys Jones, Columbus Layton, Annabel Mackereth, Maggie Hearne and Cerys Roskams amassed an incredible 37 grade 9s between them.
Headteacher Stuart Wetson was delighted with the performance of the students; “These results are fitting reward for their hard work and effort during their time at St Mary’s. I am very proud of all of the students and their achievements and I wish them every success as they embark on their exciting next steps.” He went on to acknowledge the importance of the support given to the students by their parents and teachers; “I want to thank the teachers and parents of this year group for their tremendous input and support and I am looking forward to building on this success in the future.”
