Primary Singing Celebration at St Mary’s – 26th February

On 26th February, St Mary’s was delighted to welcome 150 primary school students for a joyful and inspiring singing event filled with music, energy and leadership.

The workshop was led by eight of our own pupils, who have been taking part in specialist training with the renowned vocal ensemble Voces8, organised by Encore. Through their work with professional singers and educators, our students have developed both their musical skills and their confidence as leaders — and this event was their opportunity to run a whole event.

Our young leaders confidently guided energetic vocal warm-ups, taught the visiting pupils brand new songs as well as performing their own song.

Their enthusiasm and professionalism set the tone for the entire day. It was wonderful to see them step into leadership roles, supporting and encouraging younger pupils throughout the event.

In recognition of their commitment and growth, all eight students have now been awarded their *Silver Leadership Certificate*, having successfully completed their Bronze award last year. This achievement reflects not only their musical development but also their teamwork, communication and mentoring skills.

We were also treated to fantastic performances from the visiting primary schools, who impressed everyone with their confidence and musicality. The hall was filled with joyful singing and a true sense of community. The feedback from schools has been overwhelmingly positive. One primary school shared that their pupils were so inspired by our young leaders that they were eager to return to their own school and teach one of the newly learned songs to their classmates — a wonderful testament to the impact of the day.

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing St Mary’s with such enthusiasm and maturity.
