St Mary's GCSE Results

Students and staff at St Mary’s RC High School are celebrating today having received a set of very impressive GCSE results, with over a quarter of all results achieved being the highest 7-9 grades. In the key accountability measures, 60% of students at St Mary’s gained strong passes (5+) in English and Maths with 82% achieving standard passes (4+) in both of these core subjects.

There were also some exceptional individual performances amongst the students at the school. Head Boy Benedict Fawcett achieved an incredible eight grade 9s and notification from the examination board that he was OCR’s highest performer in Biology in the June 2019 examinations nationally. In addition to this, and between them, Anna Clarke, Hannah Clery, Hannah Howl and Chiara Koop amassed a further twenty-three grade 9s.

Headteacher Stuart Wetson was delighted with the students’ performance; “I am so proud of what they have achieved and the progress they have made. Their results are truly excellent and no less than they deserve for their hard work and commitment during their time with us. We will all miss this year group and wish them every success for their exciting next steps.” Mr Wetson went on to praise the hard work of the teachers and support of parents, “It’s very much a collective effort at St Mary’s. We’ve had such a positive year but couldn’t have done it without the hard work of the staff and invaluable support of our parents.”
