I am writing to welcome you to a new academic year at St. Mary’s and I hope that you all had a restful and enjoyable summer holiday.
It’s with great pleasure that we welcome our new students in Year 7 and we will do everything we possibly can to make their transition a smooth one.
As you may have seen in the local press or on our website, we had another successful year where GCSE results were concerned. We were delighted that we maintained the high standards of recent years and with the successes and achievements of our Year 11 students. In the headline accountability measures, 81% of the year group achieved a grade 9-4 (standard pass) in English and Maths with 55% gaining a strong pass (5+) in the two core subjects. We are also very proud that a quarter of all grades achieved at St. Mary’s were 7-9.
I would like to thank the teachers and students for their incredible hard work which has enabled such results and extend my thanks to you as parents for the support you provide for us and your children. I wish our outgoing Year 11 every success with their next exciting steps and look forward to working with the current Year 11 as they begin this final crucial year.
We are looking forward to the new year and I am certainly excited at the prospect of leading the school in my first full year here.
