SCHOOL TRANSPORT: IMPORTANT UPDATE
SCHOOL TRANSPORT: IMPORTANT UPDATE
PUBLIC BUSES
It has been brought to our attention in recent days that there is the likelihood of reduced capacity on public bus routes from September 2020 due to Government guidelines for Covid – 19.
The buses are not dedicated school transport buses which remain unaffected by social distancing constraints and will continue to follow normal timetable at full capacity.
We have been advised that those public buses which carry a mixture of school pupils and the general public will only carry 50% of their usual quota. This will invariably mean that pupils accessing public transport will experience difficulties and may not always be able to travel. I must reiterate that this is not a St. Mary’s or school transport mandate but particular public buses adhering to government guidance.
I have been communicating with Local Authority School Transport who are awaiting further guidance from the Department for Transport. They are exploring whether these ‘public services’ can be made as dedicated school runs. As yet there are no guaranteed plans for proposals.
The routes and buses likely to be affected are:
DRM
476 Ledbury – Hereford via Trumpet, Tarrington and Bartestree
420 Hereford to Worcester via Withington and Bromyard
469 Bromyard – Hereford via Bishops Frome and Withington
Yeomans
74S Newton Farm – Hereford – St. Mary’s School
75S Rotherwas – Lugwardine – St. Mary’s School
If you have any specific queries relating to these buses, it is advisable that you contact the bus companies directly who may be able to assist you further.
