Field Work
Every year students have the opportunity to go on visits and conduct field work to support their learning in Geography.
Year 7 Lugwardine
In the autumn term Year 7 walk around Lugwardine using OS maps and aerial photos to learn about the local area.
Year 7 Big Pit
In the summer term Year 7 visit Big Pit to learn about the importance of natural resources in general and coal in particular during the industrial revolution to support the development of the UK economy.

Yr 8 Rivers fieldtrip
Year 8 pupils visited Pentaloe Brook in near Checkley and Mordiford to see how the stream changes along its long profile. Pupils used equipment to take measurements, learnt about the enquiry process and had fun in the water.
Yr 9 Lapworth fieldtrip
Year 9 pupils visited the Lapworth Museum of Geology at the University of Birmingham to take part in a workshop on tectonic plates and boundaries. They engaged with interesting artefacts on the museum floor and considered the opportunity of studying at university.
Yr 10 Cold Knap Beach fieldtrip
Year 10 pupils conduct fieldwork at Cold Knap Beach in South Wales to discover more about the coastal processes of attrition and longshore drift to fulfil one compulsory element of fieldwork.

Yr 10 Marrakech
Pupils can visit the city of Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco to support their studies and experience a different cultural and physical environment.
Yr 11 Bristol fieldtrip
Year 11 pupils conduct the second compulsory element of fieldwork into social deprivation by visiting Stoke Bishop and Lawrence Hill during the morning but also see some amazing facilities in Cabot Circus during lunch before walking through Temple Quarter which has been extensively redeveloped and will be used as a case study in their paper 2 exam.
