Reading Plus is our literacy programme designed to accelerate the reading proficiency and comprehension of our KS3 students.

After an initial baseline assessment which helps to establish the current reading age and reading ability of the student, our students complete guided reading on a compatible device and then complete ten short comprehension questions to check their understanding. Consistent use of the programme has been shown to facilitate rapid progress in reading fluency and comprehension and our students will be encouraged to engage through English, library lessons, and homework tasks. Our students should be completing 20 minutes of private reading per day and this programme is not a replacement for the reading students should complete of fiction, novels, short stories, non-fiction, graphic novels and more, all such available in our library for loan.
