Art / Design and Technology Department

Creativity is at the heart of our lessons in the Art/DT department.

There are four main subject areas taught:

Information about each of the separate subject areas is covered in the individual subject pages.

During the school year every student has the opportunity to study each of the different subject specialisms by way of a module rotation system.

Projects undertaken during these modules are both fun and challenging. We encourage students to think about design problems and solve them in creative ways demonstrating this through a mixture of paper based tasks as well as practical outcomes.

Students are able to take home the products they have produced at the end of each module and in the case of Food Technology dishes are produced on a more regular basis.

Members of staff in the Art/DT department are:

Mr J Mortimer (Head of Department/Teacher of DT)

Mrs S Crowley (Teacher of Food and Nutrition)

Miss E Deegan (Teacher of Art)

Mrs S Henshaw (Part time Teacher of Textiles)

Miss C Chan (Part Time Teacher of Art/Textiles)

Students can expect to undertake a wide range of creative projects in Art and Design and Technology subjects which will build their skills both in presenting their ideas as well as in a practical sense.

They will be expected to work hard and have fun whilst exploring a wide range of creative methodology and will receive encouraging and sensitive feedback into their work as we help them to grow into the new generation of designers, chefs and artists.
