Covid work up date to school website – 5th January 2021, Computer Science
During this half term we are going to be learning how to write programs in Scratch. We will be using the lessons on the Oak National Academy website.
There are 12 Scratch lessons split into two sections:
Programming essentials in Scratch: Part 1
Programming essentials in Scratch: Part 2
Each section has six lessons. If you have never used Scratch before or it is a long time since you have used it, start with part 1. If you are more confident you can move straight on to part 2. Every lesson has a video with instructions and a worksheet for you to follow. At the end of the lesson there is a quiz. We would like you to complete at least one lesson per week and send your computer science teacher evidence of your quiz score. You could screen shot your result or just email us details of which unit you have completed and your score.
If you are very confident in Scratch and want to extend your programming skills further, you could have a look at the Python lessons. Python works in a similar way to Scratch but it is a text based programming language rather than a graphical one.
