KS4

In 2013 the Department for Education announced plans for reforming GCSE qualifications.  The new GCSE Mathematics qualification will be first examined in the summer of 2017. All KS4 maths groups are following this new course. There are a number of changes from the previous exam, including a new grading system, 3 exams to allow for the testing of the new content and an increased emphasis on problem solving. Full details of these changes are contained in the following document: Maths Parent and Learner Guide

Further information on the GCSE course is available on the VLE (under maths revision). This includes:

  • GCSE specification
  • Revision plan for year 11
  • MathsWatch revision timetables for foundation and higher tier
  • Topic tests for foundation and higher tier – approx. 22 tests for each.  The mark scheme and examiner’s notes are at the end of each test.

Revision resources and timetables are regularly updated on the maths section of the VLE.
