After running a Summer School at St Mary's for over 10 years it has been absolutely wonderful to be able to offer our new Year 7’s starting in September the invaluable opportunity again to get to know staff and their new surroundings – especially this year when students have not been able to undertake the usual transition experiences that are offered prior to Covid.

Students have been able to enjoy cooking sessions where they made Spaghetti Bolognese, Scavenger Hunts, PE, Art and Design, Spirituality in the beautiful school chapel, probability sessions with specialist maths tutors and making lots of chemical reactions in the Science Labs.

They have enjoyed afternoons filled with Music and Dance with Rich Cottrell, inter house sports, dance competitions and whole year art projects which will be on display in the school to welcome them back to St Marys for the start of their journey with us in September.

This year’s summer school is funded through the Covid-19 summer schools programme and St Mary’s will receive £14900.00   which covers all resources and staffing costs. Below is a breakdown of how it was spent.
